mold-blown glass
Costumes of Absence, are what’s left after blowing glass into a mold made of metal scroll hearts often used as a decorative element on gates and fences in the Southwest. The glass is blown into the voids and middle spaces of the hearts, metaphorically moving into intangible and abstract spaces and into places we don’t belong. The resulting sculptures are absurd, awkward and funny. They resemble ancient gargoyles, turkeys, carved frogs, noses, gently closed eyes and bodily folds.
